CELEBRATING SPACES OF FOOD & GASTRONOMY - VENETIAN COOK SCHOOL, FARM & MARKET / Amy Wong

Venice is a city located at a prime position where East meets West, which has generated a taste for the exotic. Food is a central aspect of a culture, an important piece in celebration.
The project proposes a revitalisation of Rialto Market’s. To celebrate Venetian cuisine, a Cook School will be established which will run a public restaurant allowing visitors to taste and experience the exhibition items. Not only restoring the fruit and vegetable market; a self-sustained energy efficient urban farm will be constructed to provide fresh produce all year round to the market and cook school without transportation needs.
The program will be integrated within an existing Venetian building, housing the cook school, restaurant, student accommodation, aerophonic farm, and roof garden. Indoor aeroponics allows produce all year round without interference of seasonal changes; and more crops can be yielded from a smaller area in comparison to traditional farming methods.
